Muskogee Unveils Commemorative Mural for America's 250th Birthday Celebration
A new mural is coming to downtown Muskogee as part of America's 250th birthday celebration. Coca-Cola selected Muskogee, Oklahoma, as one of the communities to receive a commemorative mural. The mural will cover the back of Ruth Kelly Studio and feature several Muskogee landmarks, including the Roxy Theater sign, the USS Batfish, and the Welcome to Muskogee sign.
Main Street Muskogee Executive Director Courtney Graham said the project aims to encourage visitors to stop, take photos, and spend more time exploring downtown. The mural is expected to be completed by the end of July by Oklahoma artist Malcolm Byers.
Local business owners are optimistic about the impact of the new mural on tourism and revenue in Muskogee. Watson's Chophouse manager Stephanie Wooliver said, 'We have the mural coming, tons of new businesses coming in, so it's always a great thing to have more businesses. More tourism, more revenue… it can only benefit the community.'
