Northern Air Cargo has added a second Boeing 737-800SF to its fleet in Alaska, doubling its number of newer narrowbody freighters. The airline marked its 70th anniversary year with the arrival of the additional aircraft.

The new plane is a 2004-built Boeing 737-883(SF), and it's one of two 737-800 freighters that Northern Air Cargo now operates. According to an announcement, the aircraft will help meet demand and provide more flexibility in the communities served by the airline.

Northern Air Cargo has been expanding its fleet with newer narrowbody freighters as part of a broader strategy. In 2025, the airline announced plans to withdraw its 767-300 freighters from service and focus on Alaska and Hawaii routes using 737s.
