Nadella Warns Against Uncontrolled AI Development
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has warned against pursuing artificial intelligence that could slip beyond human control. In a post on X, he emphasized that any development of superintelligence must be grounded in the principle that it benefits humanity and remains under human control.
Nadella's comments come amid growing concerns within the tech industry about the potential risks associated with advanced AI systems. Several prominent figures, including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, have called for a more measured approach to AI development, citing concerns that commercial competition could push companies towards developing systems before adequate safety measures are in place.
Nadella expressed support for the idea of 'embedded evaluators', which would allow independent third-party assessors to evaluate the safety of AI systems. He also emphasized the need for broader access and choice at every layer of the AI stack, as well as enterprise control of learning loops and models.
