NASCAR Introduces New Rules for Xfinity Fastest Lap Program
The NASCAR Xfinity Fastest Lap program returns for its second season in 2026, with some changes to the rules. The program rewards drivers with a bonus point for recording the fastest lap in a top three series race.
Last year's rules were similar, but now drivers who head to the garage are no longer eligible to earn the point after returning to the track. This change means that laps recorded while a driver is in the garage will be ineligible for the bonus point.
NASCAR has also increased the points for a race win from 40 to 55, with 20 points awarded for two stage wins and the fastest lap bonus. The maximum points day in NASCAR this season is now 76, up from 86 for the Coca-Cola 600.
