Nasdaq Holds Firm Amid U.S.-Iran Conflict
The Nasdaq Composite closed at 26,370.89 points on August 31, down by 31.54 points or 0.12% from its previous close of 26,402.42.
Despite a modest decline, the tech-heavy index outperformed its large-cap peers, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping by 0.70% and the S&P 500 falling by 0.33%.
The Nasdaq's resilience was attributed to its technology-heavy composition, which proved relatively insulated from the shock of U.S.-Iran strikes in the Strait of Hormuz.
Nvidia's earnings report, which showed stronger-than-expected quarterly results, had driven a mid-month rally and contributed significantly to the index's 3.5% gain in August.
