National Airlines Completes Record-Breaking 777F Flight from Scotland to Australia
National Airlines has set a new record for the longest commercial Boeing 777F cargo flight. On August 4, one of its aircraft departed from Prestwick Airport in Scotland and flew nonstop to Melbourne, Australia, covering a distance of 9,849 nautical miles (18,240 km) in 19 hours and 23 minutes.
The flight was operated on behalf of Golden Aviation, and the cargo consisted of an aircraft component, possibly supplied by one of the aerospace manufacturers located near Prestwick Airport. While National Airlines did not confirm the shipment, local reports suggested it was a replacement part.
The Boeing 777F, registered N792CA, is typically used to transport heavy payloads over shorter distances. However, for this mission, the aircraft carried a relatively light shipment, allowing additional fuel to be loaded for the ultra-long-haul flight.
