Navy Drone Gets $12.68M Boost for Electronic Warfare Upgrades
The US Navy's MQ-25 Stingray drone is receiving significant upgrades to its electronic warfare capabilities, courtesy of a $12.68 million investment from Boeing. The project aims to enhance the drone's RF blanker, encrypted storage, and mission computer security, set to run through November 2029.
The upgrades focus on the defensive side of the spectrum, with an emphasis on preventing rogue players from accessing or knocking offline the MQ-25.
The RF blanker is a crucial component in this endeavor, as it prevents transmitters from deafening nearby receivers. This upgrade is essential for a drone that may house sophisticated EW capabilities in the future.
