NBC Celebrates 75 Years in Nigeria with Investments Pledged
Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), part of the Coca-Cola HBC Group, celebrated its 75th year in Nigeria with a ceremony at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
The special guest of honour was President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume. Akume congratulated NBC on this milestone and praised the Coca-Cola system's investments in Nigeria.
NBC began production in 1951 in Ebute Metta, Lagos, and has since expanded to eight plants, 11 depots, and 52 commercial territories. Its operations contribute to various sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, distribution, retail, and more.
A study by Steward Redqueen found that the Coca-Cola system generated around $1 billion in additional economic activity across its value chain in Nigeria in 2024. This includes over 160,000 jobs, with nearly 3,000 direct positions and approximately 157,200 jobs in retail, agriculture, manufacturing, transport, and services.
The Coca-Cola HBC system purchased around $601 million worth of goods and services from Nigerian suppliers last year.
