NBC Celebrates 75 Years of Growth with Nigeria
Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Ltd marked its 75th anniversary in Nigeria with a gala event at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja. The company, a member of the Coca-Cola HBC Group, has grown significantly over the years, expanding to eight plants, eleven depots, and 52 commercial territories across the country.
The company's growth is reflected in its contribution to Nigeria's economy, with a recent study by Steward Redqueen reporting that the Coca-Cola system contributed approximately US$1 billion in value-added economic activity across its value chain in 2024. The company also supported over 160,000 jobs, including nearly 3,000 direct roles and approximately 157,200 jobs in sectors such as retail, agriculture, manufacturing, transport, and services.
Coca-Cola HBC's commitment to Nigeria was reaffirmed by Zoran Bogdanovic, Chief Executive Officer of the group, who stated that the company will continue to invest up to US$1 billion in the country over five years. The company has already begun advancing this commitment through investments in manufacturing capacity at its Asejire Plant in Oyo State and Challawa Plant in Kano State.
The Coca-Cola HBC Foundation also announced a $1.25 million commitment to support young Nigerian entrepreneurs over the next three years, helping them build and sustain businesses in Nigeria's hospitality and food service sector through business grants, structured entrepreneurship training, business formalisation support, and dedicated mentorship.
