NBC Marks 75 Years in Nigeria with Pledge of Continued Investment
Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Limited has marked its 75th anniversary in Nigeria, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commending the company for its sustained investment and commitment to the country's development. The company has grown into an operation spanning eight plants, eleven depots, and 52 commercial territories, supporting jobs, local supply chains, talent development, and community investment across Nigeria.
According to a recent economic impact study by Steward Redqueen, the Coca-Cola system contributed approximately $1 billion in value-added economic activity across its value chain in Nigeria in 2024, supporting over 160,000 jobs. The company sourced almost $601 million worth of goods and services from suppliers in Nigeria in the same year.
Coca-Cola HBC CEO Zoran Bogdanovic reaffirmed the group's commitment to Nigeria, stating that they have already begun advancing their commitment through investments to expand manufacturing capacity at two plants in Oyo and Kano states. The investments are expected to strengthen production capability, support Nigeria's growing consumer market, and create further opportunities across the local manufacturing and supply ecosystem.
The Coca-Cola HBC Foundation has also committed $1.25 million to support young Nigerian entrepreneurs over the next three years, providing business grants, structured entrepreneurship training, and dedicated mentorship. Additionally, the company has pledged to advance more sustainable water solutions for thousands of Nigerians through a separate commitment by The Coca-Cola Foundation.
