Nevada Secretary of State's Office Pits Trust in Elections Against Unproven Claims
The Nevada secretary of state's office is up for election, and it's a rematch between incumbent Cisco Aguilar (D) and former state Assemblyman Jim Marchant (R-Las Vegas).
Aguilar won by about 23,000 votes in the last cycle, but this time around, Marchant has the advantage of being seen as a strong advocate for election security, despite promoting unproven claims of widespread voter fraud.
In an interview with The Nevada Independent, Marchant echoed his previous claims that voting machines can be used to hide election results. He also stated that he doesn't trust any Nevada election results since the state started using touch-screen voting machines in the mid-2000s.
Aguilar, on the other hand, has focused on implementing voter ID requirements and investing in technology for the secretary of state's office. He also plans to ask the Legislature to give his office prosecutorial authority over investment fraud cases.
