Newcomer Naweni Surprises with Unlikely Qualifications to Coca-Cola Games
Naweni Secondary School, established just three months ago, has made an impressive debut in the Coca-Cola Games by qualifying for the national competition. Despite being a new school with only a single Year Nine stream, they were able to secure seven athlete qualifications.
The team's head coach, Sirilo Vukica, initially set modest goals for his athletes, focusing on getting exposure at the zone meet rather than competing for medals. He expressed surprise when their athletes exceeded expectations and qualified for the national competition.
Vukica credits the strong support from parents and teachers as a key factor in the team's success, providing encouragement and confidence as they prepare for the competition.
