A Nigerian national has been arrested in India for allegedly trafficking MDMA, a synthetic drug.

Chidera Jonathan, 26, was apprehended on Wednesday at Civic Centre in Kamla Market, New Delhi, following a tip-off from local authorities.

Jonathan reportedly entered India in October 2024 on a medical visa but overstayed his welcome after his visa expired.

The suspect claimed to have obtained the MDMA from another Nigerian individual identified as Prince, stating that he was involved in drug trafficking to raise money for daily expenses.
