Nigerian Entrepreneur's Japan Deportation Leads to Resilience and Success
Babatunde Yusuf, a Nigerian-Canadian technology professional, was deported from Japan after immigration officials questioned his purpose for visiting. He had traveled to Japan on a visitor visa secured by an agent shortly after completing his university education.
The deportation was devastating for Yusuf, who had relied on his family's financial contributions for the trip. It left him struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and sleeplessness.
However, Yusuf eventually rebuilt his life by pursuing professional certifications in computer science. He obtained a Cisco networking certification and secured employment with Etisalat Nigeria, where he gained opportunities to travel to countries including China, the United States, and the UAE.
Yusuf eventually relocated to Canada as a student in 2015 and is now a technology and cybersecurity professional and entrepreneur, with businesses spanning automotive trade and logistics between Canada and Nigeria.
