Nigerian Senator Demands Visa Reciprocity Amid Xenophobic Attacks
Nigerian Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called on the Federal Government and Nigeria Immigration Service to review visa applications by South African artistes in line with the principle of reciprocity.
The call comes after reports that Nigerian music star Ayra Starr and her team were denied entry visas to South Africa, forcing the cancellation of their engagements.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said Nigeria should not remain passive when its citizens are subjected to unfair treatment abroad, insisting that the country's foreign policy should reflect mutual respect.
The senator urged the government to review visa applications in accordance with the principle of reciprocity and adopt corresponding measures until Nigerians receive fair treatment.
