NJ Delivery Driver Gets 5 Years for Stealing $75K in Amazon Packages

Akeem Johnson, a 43-year-old delivery driver from Bridgeton, New Jersey, has been sentenced to five years in prison for stealing over $75,000 worth of Amazon merchandise.

Johnson worked for a third-party contractor that delivered packages from a facility in Logan Township to USPS facilities. However, instead of delivering the packages, he failed to do so and used a co-worker's identification to access the facility and steal the merchandise.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that Johnson stole $75,000 worth of Amazon packages, which is a significant amount considering the average cost of an Amazon package delivery is around $10-$15.

Johnson was also sentenced to concurrent sentences for two other cases out of Cumberland County: one count of conspiracy and theft, and another count of unlawful possession of weapons (handguns).
