Non-Human Identities Dominate Production Environments, Exposing Security Gaps
A ClearVector report has exposed a critical identity intelligence gap in modern organizations. The report found that 91% of production identities are non-human, highlighting a growing disconnect between how organizations manage identity and how attacks unfold.
The study analyzed production environments across Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and revealed that while organizations have invested heavily in authentication and access controls, they lack visibility into the activity of these identities after access is granted. This means that even if an identity passes authentication checks, it may still be engaged in malicious behavior.
The report argues that organizations must move beyond access-centric security toward identity intelligence by continuously modeling each identity's unique pattern of life. This can help identify misuse in real-time and reduce detection times.
