A Norse Atlantic Airways Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aborted its take-off roll at London Gatwick's runway 26L on September 1st, causing significant disruptions to flight operations.
The aircraft, registration G-CKOF, was preparing to depart for New York JFK when the crew identified a technical anomaly involving the nose landing gear. At approximately 120 knots, the pilot initiated a high-speed rejected take-off and brought the plane to a safe stop on the runway.
Due to London Gatwick's reliance on a single high-capacity runway, the disabled aircraft blocked all departures and arrivals, prompting emergency response vehicles to inspect the scene. Several easyJet flights were diverted to nearby London Luton (LTN) and London Stansted (STN) airports.
The runway was closed for approximately 6 minutes, reopening at 14:36 BST after a thorough Foreign Object Debris (FOD) check and safety clearance from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
