Norse Atlantic Ends IndiGo Partnership Amid Fuel Price Pressures
Norse Atlantic Airways has cut ties with IndiGo and will return six Boeing 787 Dreamliners by November 2026. The airline cited persistently high fuel prices, Middle East airspace disruptions, and longer flight routings as reasons for the move.
The partnership was terminated by mutual agreement, but Norse Atlantic is already exploring new ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) opportunities with other airlines. They plan to deploy part of the returning fleet on their own network during the winter season, focusing on profitable transatlantic routes like Europe to Orlando and New York.
The airline's CEO, Eivind Roald, noted that the return of the aircraft creates new strategic opportunities for Norse Atlantic, allowing them to respond to strong demand for fuel-efficient long-haul aircraft while expanding their network where profitable. The company aims to improve profitability and create long-term value for shareholders.
