Norse Atlantic Launches Nonstop Flights from London to Phuket
Norse Atlantic Airways has launched a new nonstop service from London Gatwick to Phuket, Thailand, flying three times a week on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The airline is betting that its low-cost model will attract price-sensitive travelers who are willing to trade off amenities for a cheaper flight.
The route is made possible by the return of a spare 787-9 from a lease, which Norse Atlantic has put to work on the new service. This is in line with the airline's business model, which focuses on flying point-to-point long-haul routes with a lean fleet of Dreamliners.
Norse Atlantic is not the only carrier expanding to Phuket - legacy airlines from Britain and France are also increasing their frequencies. However, Norse Atlantic is betting that its low-cost model will give it an edge in the market.
