Norse Atlantic Launches Strategic Review Amid Indigo Leasing Agreement Cancellation
Norse Atlantic Airways has launched a formal strategic review in response to its largest ACMI customer, IndiGo, deciding to end their Boeing 787 leasing agreement by November 1, 2026.
The Norwegian low-cost long-haul carrier has relied heavily on aircraft leasing to maintain its financial position amidst volatile market conditions. The move marks a significant turning point for Norse Atlantic, which entered the aviation market in 2022 with an all-Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet and ambitions to reshape long-haul low-cost travel across the Atlantic.
Norse Atlantic's CEO Eivind Roald stated that the returning aircraft create greater flexibility as the airline evaluates future growth opportunities. The airline expects to regain six Boeing 787 Dreamliners once the IndiGo partnership concludes, with management confirming discussions are already underway with several airlines regarding new ACMI opportunities covering up to five aircraft.
