Northern Cape Schools Get Boost from Cisco Digital Skills Program
Cisco Networking Academy and Hanley Group have launched a joint initiative to bring digital skills training to schools in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. The program aims to prepare learners for a world where artificial intelligence, automation, cyber security, and connected technologies dominate.
The initiative targets 235 schools across the Northern Cape and will begin classes in February next year. It focuses on closing priority skills gaps such as foundational digital literacy, responsible AI use, digital safety, cyber security awareness, technical support, networking, and emerging-technology career pathways.
Cisco Networking Academy provides the curriculum, online learning platform, and instructor materials at no cost to participating schools. Hanley Group Academy will handle technical onboarding, classroom setup, and quality assurance.
Learners from grades 10 to 12 can take part in the program, which includes courses in AI, digital literacy, cyber security, and technical IT skills. Teachers will receive training and support to use the Cisco platform and facilitate the approved courses.
