Nvidia Aims to Hit $1 Trillion Chip Sales Target by 2027
Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang recently forecasted that his company would collect $1 trillion in chip sales through 2027. The prediction was made during Nvidia's GTC conference in March, where Huang expressed confidence in the company's opportunity in the artificial intelligence (AI) chip market.
According to Huang, Nvidia saw $500 billion of 'very high confidence demand and purchase orders' for Blackwell and Rubin chips through 2026. He further predicted that the company would collect at least $1 trillion in sales through 2027.
Nvidia's data center revenue has been the main driver of its growth, making up roughly 90% of its total revenue over the past year. In the fiscal first quarter of 2027, data center revenue grew 92% year over year to $75 billion.
Wall Street's consensus estimate currently forecasts total revenue of $394 billion this year and $561 billion next year, which would put cumulative total revenue since last year at about $1.17 trillion. If Nvidia's data center segment remains about 90% of total revenue, that implies cumulative data center sales from last year will exceed $1 trillion by the end of next year.
However, CFO Colette Kress mentioned during the company's fiscal first-quarter earnings call that Nvidia is working to address supply chain constraints. This implies that there are risks that could prevent Nvidia from meeting its forecast.
