Nvidia, Alphabet Lead Investors in SpaceX with Billions at Stake
SpaceX's volatile stock performance has been closely watched by investors as it approaches a $1 trillion valuation. Despite some fluctuations, the company's shares have rebounded from recent lows, closing at $140 on Friday after falling below its $135 IPO price.
As institutional investors disclose their holdings following SpaceX's public debut, filings are providing insight into who owns the rocket company and how early investments have appreciated.
Nvidia disclosed a stake worth about $21 billion at the end of June, consisting of 122.8 million Class A shares in SpaceX. However, its value has since declined to approximately $17.2 billion as the stock price dropped from $170.86 at quarter-end.
Alphabet's investment is even more remarkable, having increased over 100-fold from an initial $900 million stake in 2015. The Google parent now holds a $94 billion position in SpaceX, making it the largest single institutional holder of the company.
