Nvidia and Alphabet Lead Major Investors in SpaceX with Billions at Stake
Nvidia's massive $21 billion stake in SpaceX has taken a hit due to the rocket company's recent stock price drop. The chipmaker disclosed its holding on Friday, revealing that it owns 122.8 million Class A shares in SpaceX. However, based on SpaceX's current closing price of $140, Nvidia's investment is now worth around $17.2 billion.
Nvidia's exposure to SpaceX came through its $10 billion investment in Elon Musk's xAI as part of a $20 billion funding round announced in January. This marks the second-biggest disclosed holding behind Intel for Nvidia, whose stake is currently worth approximately $22 billion.
Alphabet has emerged as the largest single institutional holder of SpaceX following the company's IPO, with a disclosed stake worth around $94 billion at the end of June. The Google parent initially invested $900 million in Musk's rocket company in 2015 and has seen its value increase more than 100-fold.
Harvard Management Co. has also disclosed a substantial investment in SpaceX, reporting a $2.2 billion position in its latest 13F filing. Norway's sovereign wealth fund, Norges Bank Investment Management, holds a relatively small but still significant stake of around $1.2 billion in the company.
