NVIDIA and American Express Drive US Stocks Higher
US stocks closed higher on Wednesday as gains in key sectors propelled shares upwards. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.56% while the S&P 500 added 0.46%. NVIDIA Corporation led the gains, increasing by 3.21%, or 6.97 points to $224.41.
Other notable gainers included American Express Company and Caterpillar Inc, which both saw increases of over 1%. Meanwhile, Honeywell International Inc was among the biggest losers, dropping 1.86% or 3.90 points to $206.08.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Dell Technologies Inc, FMC Corporation, and Charter Communications Inc, which rose by 15.81%, 12.21%, and 8.74% respectively. The worst performers were Palo Alto Networks Inc, Edison International, and Palantir Technologies Inc, which dropped 9.28%, 6.14%, and 5.81%.
In commodities trading, gold for December delivery rose by 0.85% or $37.39 to $4,433.79 a troy ounce. The EUR/USD was unchanged at 1.16 while the USD/JPY fell 0.91% to 158.71.
