Nvidia and Super Micro Staff Charged in Taiwan Over Banned AI Server Exports

Taiwanese prosecutors have charged nine individuals, including staff from Nvidia and Super Micro, for allegedly exporting high-end AI servers to mainland China.

The accused, which also included a manager at Nvidia, were involved in shipping 74 graphics processing units (GPUs) known as 'B300' to China, despite them being banned under export controls. The GPUs were used for advanced AI systems and the exports required strict review processes and on-site checks by company staff.

Nvidia spokesperson Patrick Rutherford stated that the company will work with Taiwanese authorities to resolve the allegations 'as quickly as possible.' Super Micro also cooperated with the investigation, saying it would enhance its export compliance program to protect American innovation.
