Nvidia-Backed AI Firm Scores $35B Cloud Deal with Anthropic
Antropic has signed a massive cloud deal worth $35B that will give Claude's maker access to computing power in a Texas data center. Chip giant Nvidia is involved in multiple aspects of the transaction.
Under the terms of the deal, Anthropic will acquire artificial intelligence computing power from Lambda, an AI-specific cloud provider backed by Nvidia. This computing power will be located in a 350-megawatt data center being built in Nueces County, Texas, by Hut 8, a bitcoin miner turned AI data center developer with ties to the Trump family.
Nvidia will officially be the tenant of the data center, giving Lambda access to the computing power for an undisclosed sum. Nvidia will also supply the graphics processing unit chips generating the computing power in the Texas facility.
