Nvidia Bets Big on MediaTek Bond Deal
Nvidia has announced its purchase of $3.5 billion worth of convertible bonds issued by Taiwan's MediaTek, absorbing nearly 90% of a record $3.9 billion overseas offering that also attracted an undisclosed contribution from Alphabet.
The investment is part of an expanded partnership covering AI data-center infrastructure, consumer PCs, and automotive platforms.
But it has drawn scrutiny from analysts and investors who argue that Nvidia's financial returns now depend on the same ecosystem partners it is paying to build around its proprietary infrastructure.
