NVIDIA Brings GeForce NOW to Firefox Browser with High-Def Streaming
NVIDIA has finally brought its GeForce NOW cloud game streaming service to Mozilla's Firefox browser on Windows PCs. This move follows years of fan requests and allows Firefox users to stream over 2,000 PC games directly through their browser without needing downloads or hardware upgrades.
For GeForce NOW Ultimate tier subscribers, streaming games in Firefox supports gameplay at up to 1440p resolution and 120 frames per second. Andrew Fear, Director of NVIDIA GeForce NOW, praised Mozilla's efforts, stating 'Firefox earned its place on our list of supported browsers by delivering the first-class experience GeForce NOW players expect.'
Mozilla spent months collaborating with NVIDIA to make this announcement a reality. The company claims that Firefox joining the fray comes at an interesting time, as prices for PC parts have soared over the past year due to manufacturers prioritizing capacity and sales to more lucrative data center customers amid the AI gold rush.
NVIDIA deserves some credit for focusing resources on a browser like Firefox, which trails Microsoft Edge in market share. According to StatCounter, Google Chrome dominates the browser landscape with a 68.22% share of the global market, followed by Safari at 16.47%, Edge at 5.37%, and Firefox at 3.34%.
Mozilla claims there are over 197 million monthly active users across mobile and desktop combined, although it's unclear how many of those are on desktop. The partnership between NVIDIA and Mozilla is seen as a big win for both the Firefox community and the gaming community as a whole.
