Nvidia CEO Huang Admits Running Company as Though Days from Collapse
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has spent over three decades running his company as though it were on the brink of collapse, a mindset he attributes to a phrase he coined in 1993: '30 days from going out of business.'
Despite Nvidia's current market value of approximately $4.7 trillion, fueled by the AI boom, Huang still operates under this mantra, warning that complacency can be detrimental to success.
In a recent conversation with YC chief executive Garry Tan at Startup School 2026, Huang expressed his envy towards first-time founders, citing the freedom from established obligations and pressures that come with building a new company.
His advice to young entrepreneurs is to adopt a mindset of uncertainty, asking themselves 'how hard can it be?' rather than imagining every obstacle beforehand. This approach, according to Huang, helps mitigate anxiety and enables individuals to focus on the task at hand.
