Nvidia CEO's 'Buy at Discount' Call Beats S&P 500 Amid AI Infrastructure Boom
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's call to 'buy at a discount' during an AI stock sell-off has paid off, with his company's shares rising 5.1% since June 8.
The S&P 500 gained 4.3% over the same period, giving Nvidia a lead of just 0.8 percentage points.
A broader basket of Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet has returned 8.5%, roughly double the S&P 500's gain.
Huang's remarks came during a partnership announcement with SK Hynix, which committed $38.3 billion to expand high-bandwidth memory production through 2031.
SK Hynix's investment plan underscores the scale of the AI infrastructure buildout, with most of the money earmarked for DRAM production, specifically high-bandwidth memory variant essential for AI accelerators.
