Nvidia Considers $30 Billion-Plus Investment in Rapidly Growing AI Startup
Nvidia is in talks to invest in Perplexity as part of an equity funding round that would value the AI startup at more than $30 billion, according to a report from The Information. This valuation increase would be over 50% from its previous financing a year ago.
The funding round comes as Perplexity's annualized revenue has risen to over $750 million from less than $250 million at the start of the year, with part of this growth driven by its cloud-based AI agent used by professionals to automate tasks.
Nvidia and Perplexity declined to comment on the report, but Nvidia was also mentioned as a high-profile backer along with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Japan's SoftBank Group. The startup plans to go public in 2028 regardless of market conditions for similar companies like Anthropic and OpenAI.
