Nvidia Crushes Q2 Earnings with Record Revenue
Nvidia's second-quarter earnings report has left investors stunned, with the company delivering another beat to expectations. The semiconductor giant's quarterly revenue more than tripled what it generated in all of 2022, reaching $96.2 billion. This represents a 106% increase from the same period last year and an 18% jump from the prior quarter.
The data center segment was responsible for $89 billion of that total, with revenue rising 117% year-over-year. CEO Jensen Huang attributed this growth to the proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) labs and startups, as well as the increasing adoption of open-model ecosystems and physical AI. 'This time last year, one lab alone was driving the buildout,' Huang said. 'Today, we have a golden age of new AI labs and startups, multiple frontier labs scaling in parallel...'
Nvidia's operating income rose to $63.7 billion in the second quarter, up from $53.5 billion the prior quarter. The company forecasts $108 billion in revenue for the next quarter, assuming zero data center compute revenue from China. Nvidia also returned $26 billion to shareholders in the quarter.
