Nvidia Denies Pausing AI Cloud Commitments Amid Partner Backlash
Nvidia has denied reports that it had paused its AI cloud commitments initiative after some partners pushed back against restrictions on renting company-approved customers.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Nvidia told some cloud providers participating in the program that they could lease its GPUs only to customers approved by Nvidia, but this led to internal concerns about potential antitrust scrutiny and pushback from partners who wanted control over which customers they served.
Nvidia's AI Compute Partnership program has proven to be a success so far, with $36 billion in commitments as of late July. The company provides demand commitments and guaranteed revenue levels to make financing AI data centers easier for operators.
