Nvidia Dives into Financing as AI Infrastructure Spending Soars
Nvidia is expanding its business beyond just supplying AI equipment to also providing financial guarantees for the next wave of AI infrastructure, positioning itself as a financier and not just a supplier.
The company has identified that financing will be one of the most significant obstacles to scaling AI infrastructure, with AI infrastructure spending on track to exceed $2 trillion annually by 2028 and cumulative investment reaching roughly $11.1 trillion between 2024 and 2029.
To address this challenge, Nvidia is providing minimum revenue guarantees to 'neocloud' operators under a program that commits the company to purchase compute capacity if the cloud operator cannot fully rent out its GPU fleet in exchange for a share of revenue generated above the guaranteed level.
