Nvidia Dominates Desktop GPU Market Amid Rising Prices
NVIDIA dominated the desktop graphics card market in Q2 2026, capturing approximately 90% of shipments. According to Jon Peddie Research (JPR), a total of 12.5 million standalone desktop graphics cards were shipped, up from 11.8 million in Q1 2026 and representing the strongest quarterly total since Q1 2022.
The number is notable given that prices for add-in boards are near record highs and GDDR memory costs continue to climb. Despite this, shipments rose 7.8% year-over-year, a trend attributed to pull-forward demand as buyers accelerated planned purchases due to expected price increases.
NVIDIA's share of the desktop graphics card market remains significant, but the company does not dominate the broader PC GPU market, which includes integrated graphics and notebooks. Intel leads this segment with a 56% share, driven by its integrated graphics footprint in laptops.
