Nvidia Drives $4B Fiber Expansion with Zayo Partnership
Zayo, a leading fiber network provider, has confirmed that Nvidia is its new 'monster' customer. The two companies are building 16 new fiber routes across the U.S., with 10 of those being entirely new (greenfield) routes and six overbuilds on existing Zayo fiber.
Nvidia will also be leasing fiber on eight other Zayo long-haul routes, further expanding its reach in high-growth AI corridors. The project is expected to take several years to complete, with the first routes finishing as early as next year and the full set completed by 2030.
Zayo's CEO Steve Smith noted that some of the new routes already had sufficient capacity, but the company still needed to invest in augmenting the network. The long-haul expansion is a multi-year build program, with Zayo expecting 'good business' returns from the investment.
