Nvidia Drops Windows 10 Support for GeForce Drivers
Nvidia's GeForce users will have to transition to Windows 11 by October 2026 if they want access to the company's latest 'Game Ready' and 'Studio' drivers. The current mainstream GeForce driver update supporting Windows 10 is set to arrive in October 2026, after which Nvidia will only release quarterly security updates for the operating system until October 2029.
This change may force some gamers to upgrade their PCs or purchase new ones since not all Windows 10 PCs support Windows 11. Microsoft announced that it would officially end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. Nvidia has decided to extend its support for an additional year due to the large number of GeForce users currently using Windows 10.
Nvidia's decision is in line with Microsoft's plan to provide Extended Security Updates (ESU) to Windows 10 users until October 12th, 2027. However, Nvidia will not continue supporting Windows 10 with its 'Game Ready' and 'Studio' drivers following the mainstream driver update in October 2026.
