Nvidia Earnings: AI Infrastructure Spending to Take Center Stage

Nvidia's upcoming quarterly financial results are highly anticipated by analysts and investors. The company has consistently beaten earnings per share (EPS) estimates in recent years, with a 92% year-over-year increase in data center revenue to $75.2 billion in the first quarter.

According to Freedom Capital Markets Chief Market Strategist Jay Woods, Nvidia's strong results are largely due to its dominance in AI infrastructure spending. However, Woods notes that simply beating EPS estimates may not be enough to move the stock back to all-time highs.

The focus will be on whether Nvidia can sustain its growth in data center revenue, particularly with heavy spending by companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, and Meta. A disappointment in this segment could signal weakness for the entire AI infrastructure market.

Additionally, Woods points out that China's current guidance does not price in any data center compute revenue from the region, making it a significant wildcard for Nvidia's results. With potential reopening of the region, the company could see billions in revenue restored.
