Nvidia Earnings Report to Dictate Next Big Move for AI-Related Stocks

U.S. stocks experienced a mixed finish on Monday as investors await several key market-moving events set to take place later in the week.

The S&P 500 slipped 0.3% and moved further away from its all-time high established earlier this month, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 140 points, or 0.3%, and the Nasdaq composite fell 0.8%.

Tech stocks led the decline, with Nvidia sinking 2.9% due to concerns that the AI boom may be unsustainable if companies do not produce enough profits.

The U.S. Treasury Department's surprise move last week to increase the size of planned buybacks of Treasurys helped ease long-term Treasury yields, but analysts warned this may only have a limited effect in addressing high inflation and government debt issues.
