Nvidia Earnings Set to Shake Asian Chip Stocks

Nvidia's upcoming earnings report on August 26 is set to have a significant impact on Asian chip stocks, which are already showing signs of nervousness. The Kospi dropped 2.7% and SK Hynix shed 4.61% on Tuesday alone.

Taiwan Semiconductor (TSMC) is the most direct Nvidia proxy in Asia, manufacturing every Blackwell and Hopper chip sold by Nvidia. Trading at $410.12, TSMC has gained +74% over the past year and is expected to be heavily influenced by Nvidia's guidance on next-gen chip volumes.

SK Hynix, a South Korean stock, supplies High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) chips to Nvidia and has seen its price surge 513% in the past year. A beat from Nvidia would indicate sustained demand for HBM, while a miss could send SK Hynix tumbling.

Nvidia's earnings report will also have implications for Japan's equipment makers, such as Advantest Corp. and Tokyo Electron, which supply test systems and other equipment to Nvidia.
