Nvidia Earnings Test Market Ahead of Inflation Data and GDP Growth Estimate

The stock market is facing a critical test on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, as Nvidia's earnings and inflation data are released. The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) will release an estimate of Q2 gross domestic product (GDP) at 8:30 a.m. ET, which is expected to show growth of just 1.5%. This is lower than what economists and the market would like to see.

The PCE reading, the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation measure, will also be released as part of the personal income and outlays report. Core inflation has been holding steady at 3.3%, which is above the Fed's 2% target. A weak growth with stubborn inflation would be worse for investors, as it would give the Fed less room to help the economy.

Nvidia will release its latest results after market close at 4:20 p.m. ET, followed by an earnings call at 5 p.m. The company's data center revenue jumped 92% to $75.2 billion last quarter, making it a bellwether for the AI build-out. Investors are watching Nvidia's guidance and order book closely, as well as its gross margin.
