Nvidia Earnings Tonight: Can the Chipmaker Clear Expectations?
Nvidia's fiscal second-quarter FY2027 earnings are set to be released after market close on August 26. Wall Street expects another exceptional growth quarter, but Nvidia must deliver results that clear expectations already built into its share price.
The bar is higher than a basic earnings beat, with consensus near $92 billion in revenue and roughly $2.09 in adjusted earnings per share. Investors will be listening for the pace of data-center growth, the Rubin product transition, gross margins, and the sustainability of AI infrastructure spending.
Nvidia's previous quarter established an extraordinary base, with fiscal Q1 revenue reaching $81.6 billion, including $75.2 billion from Data Center. For fiscal Q2, management guided to $91 billion in revenue, plus or minus 2%, and approximately 75% non-GAAP gross margin.
The market is selective and defensive, with genuine upside surprises still being rewarded but recent disappointments producing unusually sharp losses. Recent options activity shows reduced conviction, not a clear directional prediction. Earlier dip-buying faded as the report approached, but there was no persistent bearish imbalance.
