Nvidia Earnings: Why the Stock Might Fall Again

Nvidia's quarterly earnings reports have become major events for investors since 2023. The chip stock has led the AI boom and is up over 1,100% since the launch of ChatGPT. However, in recent quarters, Nvidia's earnings reports have been met with underwhelming market response. In fact, the stock has fallen on its earnings report in each of the last four quarters.

According to Nvidia's financial reports, the stock fell by 1.8%, 5.5%, 3.2%, and 0.8% respectively after the Q1, Q4, Q3, and Q2 2026 earnings announcements. Despite this trend, the stock has still gained 19% over the last year.

Nvidia's earnings reports have been relatively predictable, with a surprise of between 3.5% and 5.5% variance from analyst consensus in each of the last four quarters. The company has consistently beaten earnings estimates but failed to lift the stock due to already baked-in high expectations.

Investors should be prepared for a possible pullback after Nvidia's Q2 2027 earnings report, although it may not be a meaningful event. Any decline in the stock price could be seen as a buying opportunity, given its current valuation and strong growth prospects.
