Nvidia Exclusive: SpaceX Taps Chipmaker for Future AI Infrastructure
SpaceX has solidified its partnership with Nvidia by committing to exclusively use their graphics processing units (GPUs) for its artificial intelligence infrastructure. The decision was announced during SpaceX's earnings call, where CEO Elon Musk praised Nvidia's Vera Rubin architecture as 'the best' available.
Musk stated that the company will build all future AI systems on Nvidia hardware, citing the benefits of their rack-scale design, which simplifies deployment by reducing cabling requirements. This move strengthens Nvidia's position in the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market.
The partnership also extends beyond terrestrial data centers, with SpaceX planning to deploy Nvidia's Vera Rubin technology in its Starmind AI satellite, set to launch next year. The satellite will utilize dozens of Vera CPUs and Rubin AI GPUs, marking one of the most ambitious attempts to place high-performance AI computing infrastructure in space.
