Nvidia Expands DLSS 5 Support to Older GPUs, But Limits Gamer Control

Nvidia's DLSS 5 AI rendering technology is making its official debut on GeForce RTX 50 GPUs, but it will also be coming to older RTX 40-series GPUs. This change in plans follows the recent discovery of a leaked version of DLSS 5 being ported by modders to run on various hardware configurations.

Nvidia spokesperson Rajal Maharaj confirmed that the company's current focus is on optimizing performance for the GeForce RTX 50 Series, with model updates expected later this fall. Once this is complete, Nvidia will expand official support to the GeForce RTX 40 Series.

However, it appears that gamers will not have full control over DLSS 5's sliders, as modders currently do. Nvidia says that for gamers, DLSS 5 will be a simple on-or-off toggle, with more granular artistic controls reserved for developers.
