Nvidia Expands Washington Influence Amid AI Regulation Talks
Nvidia, the world's most valuable company, is expanding its influence in Washington by launching an employee-funded political action committee. The Nvidia Corporation Employees Federal Political Action Committee will allow eligible employees to contribute up to $5,000 a year to support candidates from both parties and political committees.
The move comes as the U.S. government weighs AI rules that could shape the future for AI labs, including Nvidia's AI chip business. The company has already spent more than $2.5 million on federal lobbying this year.
Nvidia is joining a broader political push by the technology industry. Other leading AI developers, such as Anthropic and OpenAI, have sharply increased their lobbying spending, with both companies together spending $3.17 million during the second quarter, up 23% from the first three months of the year.
