Nvidia is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire Hugging Face for $12.9 billion. This would take the total deal value to around $14 billion, including a $1 billion retention package for Hugging Face employees.

Hugging Face, founded in 2016, runs a platform where developers can publish and share AI models for free use by others. The company was valued at $4.5 billion in a funding round three years ago.

Nvidia is already an investor in Hugging Face, alongside other notable companies such as Alphabet, Amazon, Intel, and Salesforce. The acquisition would be the latest in a string of deals for Nvidia, which paid around $20 billion for most of chip startup Groq last year.
