Nvidia Eyes $3 Billion Investment in SoftBank-Backed Data Center Firm
Nvidia is in talks to invest up to US$3 billion in SB Energy, a subsidiary of SoftBank Group, as part of a deal related to OpenAI's planned Ohio data center project.
The proposed investment is tied to Nvidia providing around US$100 billion in credit support for the project. According to reports, Nvidia has discussed investing half of the US$3 billion when the Ohio project deal is signed and the other half as part of SB Energy's planned initial public offering (IPO).
SB Energy aims to go public next month and could raise at least US$5 billion in the IPO. The company, which also develops large-scale power and data center infrastructure projects, was founded in 2019.
